How To Slice An Onion
New Golf Balls That Will Not be Sliced
Polara Golf have come out with an non slice-able golf ball. The recreational golfer or the duffer might consider this to be a good thing but it is considered to be an illegal golf ball. These New Golf Balls break the official golf rules because they have an irregular dimple design.
In other words, the United States Golf Association and the Royal & Ancient will not sanction the ball for use in competitions, either Tour or local golf competitions. With that being said, this ball was developed for the recreational golfer or the beginner that might not be concerned about the legality of the ball.
The truth is that about 80% of recreational golfers can’t hit the ball straight, with the majority of them having a persistent slice problem. Duffers will be pleased to learn that the Polara ball will lessen a hook or a slice by about 75%. The way that this works is because the ball has two different types of dimple patterns; deeper dimples on the poles and shallow dimples on the equator .
The ball has an arrow that needs to be pointing towards the target when teeing off. There is however a problem with the next shot - once the ball lands on the fairway you will more than likely find that the arrow is not aiming at the target for your next shot. This would mean that the golfer has to move the ball so that the arrow is once again pointing towards the target.
So, we have an illegal golf ball which also requires that the golfer breaks the most basic rules of golf. Golf is still called the gentleman’s game because there is no umpire calling the shots; the golfer has to be honest and call fouls on them self. So, what the Polara ball will give the game of golf is a type of golfer that believes they are hitting the ball straight and thinks that it is alright to bend the rules to their advantage.
Many golfers have declared that they would use the ball to make the game more enjoyable, quicken up the pace of the game, and so that they will not be embarrassed on the first tee. In my mind, there are reasons why certain golf equipment is illegal – because it gives the golfer an unfair advantage. Golfers that want to use the Polara golf ball are in fact just cheating themselves; instead of hiding their slice they need to learn How to Fix a Slice .
As a golfer with over 40 years of experience, as well as frustrations, I do not believe that a golf ball that is designed to stop slices or hooks is the way to go. Golf is a difficult game to master and that is what makes it the game it is. That is why golf requires constant practice and refinement in the techniques so that you can fix any golf swing problems.
Do you think it is correct to use an illegal ball? If you are unsure then do you think it ethical to walk down the middle of the fairway and to simply drop your ball there instead off teeing it off? That is what I thought!
